Email Contact - Site Link Information - Brief Resume
Everyone who has used the internet for a while and has put their email address on their own Web site, or has had it posted on other sites or in online forums, you knows that it’s just a matter of time before spam starts to show up. Spammers employ software programs referred to as “bots” and “crawlers” to search web sites, forums, newsgroups, etc. for text based email addresses that they can add to their spam lists. Sophisticated scripting techniques can be employed to avoid most of the searching spammers, but I have chosen a much simpler tactic to reduce exposure.
I know about mail server spam filters and spam filtering in email programs. While these software functions can reduce the total amount of spam they can’t eliminate enough of it if the spam is occurring at a high volume. Due to the large number of creative projects I want to pursue I’ve chosen the following course of action for e-mail contact. My email address (in the box framed by red lines)
is a graphic and not a clickable link that could open
your email program. You’ll have to manually enter my
email address in your email programs address book. If
you try to contact me in the future and my email
address doesn’t work this could be because I’ve had to
change it due to a high volume of spam. If I need to
change it I’ll just alter the two digit number. It a
shame we have to deal with this sort of things, but
such is life in this technological age. One final note,
as I mentioned above I have many creative projects I
want to pursue, and so if you write I may or may not
have time to reply. Generally speaking I probably will
not have time for lengthy correspondence, but I may be
able to write a quick note if you have a burning
question.
As you looks through the various sections and pages of my site you’ll notice that some of the links to other sites are not “clickable“ or active links to the other site.
The reason for this is quite simple, so many web sites change their content so often that keeping up with these changes could become a very time consuming task. Because my time is limited I have chosen to only make some links active or “clickable”. You will be able to tell which links are active because your mouse cursor will change when you roll over them. The non-active links will usually be in bold text and should be used as Google search content to find the item being referred to. In some instances I will make references to this in the article and state that you will just need to search for the terms or item.

I've lived in the Portland area all my life, except during the four years I spent in the military. While in the Navy I worked as an aviation electronics technician, and traveled to several foreign countries and many parts of the USA. After high school and college I worked in several skilled trades such as carpentry, cabinetmaking and in various creative/technical positions in film and video production. I worked for eight years at Mira Film and Video, who primarily made TV commercials and industrial videos. I've also crewed on dozens of Cable Access programs and low-budget film shoots. I also produced/directed a local Cable Access program called “Northwest Computer User”, which was hosted by PMUG member Charles DeVore - this show was instrumental in introducing me to Mac computing. Recently I have completed a PMUG Promotional video which was shown at a PMUG General Meeting, the DV/Graphics SIG, at MacWorld and on Cable Access TV in Portland. The video is 23 minutes in length and shows all aspects of PMUG activities, classes, etc. The video was shot on DV video tape and edited with Final Cut Pro. Graphics and visual effects were created with Adobe After Effects and Photoshop. The music for the video was made with Sonicfire and the narration and sound effects were edited with Pro Tools.
